Texas Hot Slaw – (Coleslaw)

This is really a coleslaw from Texas that is “hot” because of the chili pepper and the chili powder. It is easy to make and can be made in advance of your dinner party’s arrival.

I adopted this recipe from The Texas Hometown Cookbook from the Great American Publishers.

 What you need:

  • 1 cabbage
  • 4 carrots, shredded
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 red bell pepper ( optional)
  • 2 chili peppers, minced

 Dressing

  • 2 cups mayonnaise
  • 2 Tbsp sugar
  • 2 Tbsp vinegar
  • 2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • dash of chili powder
  • 1 Tbsp mustard
  1. In a large bowl, mix cabbage, carrots, onion, bell pepper, chili pepper.
  2. In  separate bowl  mix dressing ingredients.
  3. Pour dressing into the large bowl and combine contents well.
  4. Chill before serving.

What you get is a creamy and textured coleslaw that will satisfy everyone and they will keep asking for more.

Have coleslaw as a side with any of your favorite dishes. Enjoy!
